Something Blue...

When it comes to weddings, the color blue has been tied to traditions that date back to the Victorian era. At that time, brides were encouraged to wear something blue to “ward off the evil eye.” Blue was also considered the color of purity, loyalty and trust. In modern weddings, many brides incorporate the color blue by wearing blue shoes, jewelry with blue gemstones or adding blue florals into their bouquet. So it’s no surprise that blue is used in the color palettes of many wedding invitation suites. There are plenty of shades to choose from, and so many ways to add blue into your wedding invites. Keep reading to see how we brought blue into several wedding invitation styles this year.

Cool Blue Hues

Shades of cool blue can be found throughout this beautiful invitation suite. A blue border frames the main invite, as well as the Response card. You’ll also notice blue throughout the water color image of the venue that is printed on the front of the Details booklet. Light blue satin ribbon is wrapped around each invitation to hold the vellum closed. The touches of blue are just perfect for wedding venue on the water.

Opal with Blue Accents

Touches of pale blue are seen throughout these wedding invitations. The main invite is glued to a light blue backer, and is held inside of an opal jacket sleeve. Blue text can be found on the insert cards as well. A cool blue satin ribbon is wrapped around each invitation, and matches the monogram that is featured on the two layer tag. A clean, classic way to add blue into your color palette.

Silver and Slate Blue

Silver and slate blue are the perfect combination. These tri-fold style invitations were printed on silver paper. The main invite was glued to blue paper to create a border. To hold the tri-fold closed we used slate blue satin ribbon. And the elegant finishing touch is the two layer monogrammed tag, with a brushed silver border.

Beautiful Blue Florals

This invitation suite includes a light blue tri-fold enclosure with deeper blue accents. Watercolor floral graphics in shades of blue are printed in the corners of the invite, as well as on the monogrammed hangtag. The text on both the main invite and the Response card is also printed in blue. A true blue beauty!
