Save-the-Dates 101
Congratulations – you said yes this holiday season! You are ready to start a new chapter with your soulmate. Now, the fun truly begins - planning for the best day of your lives!
After you select the perfect venue and date for your big day, it’s time to send a save-the-date to future wedding guests. Whether your style is classic, rustic or unique, your save-the-dates should be special for you two, drumming up plenty of excitement for this beautiful time in your lives!
From etiquette and advice to style ideas, we’ve got everything you need to know about save-the-dates and announcing your wedding.
The Basics: Do’s and Don’ts
You may be unsure of how, when or to whom you should send save the date announcements.
According to The Knot, save the dates should be sent six to eight months before your wedding, and mailed to anyone and everyone who is on your guest list, including the wedding party. This timeline gives guests plenty of opportunities in advance to make travel arrangements and free up their schedules.
You’ll want to include the most important details: your names, date, location and a wedding website, if you have one! Add a message that a formal invitation will follow in the months leading up to the big day.
Save-the-Date Style
Onto the exciting part! Your save-the-date is ready to be designed. Some couples love using their engagement photos in a sweet postcard or tri-fold; others like to add something special with takeaway items, such as magnets, calendar stickers and more.
Your save-the-date should reflect you and your spouse-to-be. Don’t worry if you haven’t decided on colors or wedding themes just yet. This is the perfect time to test out different designs and find which fits best for the two of you!
